  • WHAT IS THE CARNIVAL OF BRAZIL? Rio Carnival is a massive, annual, week-long pre-Lenten festival in Brazil, often called the "Greatest Show on Earth". It runs from Friday to Ash Wednesday and features vibrant, organized, and competitive samba school parades at the Sambadrome, along with numerous free, spontaneous street parties known as blocos.
  • BRAZILIAN CARNIVAL COSTUMES AND CELEBRATIONS At Brazilian Carnival, Samba costumes aren’t about revealing outfits but vibrant celebration. Dancers wear elaborate feathered pieces over bikinis and bodysuits, creating a dazzling, otherworldly spectacle as they move to rhythmic beats. Many also wear colorful masks that add to the surreal atmosphere and temporarily blur social divisions. The music—driven by brass, guitars, and lively percussion—makes it almost impossible not to dance.

Tonight is Young: One night in Rio deserves to be an all-nighter — and this is it. Get ready to party hard and experience the city at its absolute best. Breakfast at the hotel. Step into the true spirit of Carnival as we attend a lively Bloco Party in Rio de Janeiro. Carnival blocos (blocos de rua) are energetic street bands that gather huge crowds and represent the most authentic and popular expression of Brazilian Carnival. Expect music, dancing, colorful costumes, and an electric street atmosphere. Visit Rocinha Favela [Slums] for a guided walking tour led by local residents. This safe and educational experience offers insight into the community’s culture, lifestyle, and stunning panoramic views of the city. The tour (2–3 hours) may include motorcycle taxi rides to the top, visits to local markets, and social projects within the community. You may visit Feira de São Cristóvão, a vibrant traditional market known for its Northeastern Brazilian culture, handicrafts, souvenirs, local food stalls, live forró music, and authentic regional products. It’s a great place to shop for unique gifts and experience local Flavors. Alternatively, you are free to explore Rio’s lively shopping streets and beachfront markets for fashion, beachwear, accessories, and souvenirs. We head to the world-famous Copacabana Beach, one of the most iconic coastal destinations in the world. Stretching 4 km along the Atlantic shoreline, this crescent-shaped golden beach is known for its vibrant atmosphere and the distinctive black-and-white wave-pattern promenade designed by Roberto Burle Marx. OPTIONAL (EVENING): Those who wish to witness the spectacular Grand Samba Parade can visit the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí. Upon arrival, transfer by road to the pier and begin your Amazon adventure with a 45-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to reach Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, nestled in the heart of the rainforest. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome briefing introducing the à-la-carte excursions available, allowing you to tailor your stay. Early breakfast (from 05:00) before visiting Lake Sandoval, a serene ox-bow lake inside the protected Tambopata National Reserve. Paddle quietly in a dug-out canoe along rainforest streams, observing birds, red-bellied macaws, endangered giant river otters, red howler monkeys, anacondas, black caimans, and side-neck turtles. Return to the lodge for lunch. Climb the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, to spot toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and sloths. Descend to take the Anaconda Walk, a 30-minute trail on a 200-meter raised wooden platform over flooded aguajales swamps, observing birds, amphibians, mammals, and exotic flora. Have breakfast and take a 25-minute boat ride to Gamitana Farm and Creek. Learn about Amazonian fruits and vegetables with medicinal properties that support local communities. Sample seasonal forest fruits and follow a jungle trail to Gamitana Creek, home to piranhas, caimans, turtles, and birds. Return to the lodge for lunch. Head upriver for 35 minutes to Inkaterra’s sister lodge, Hacienda Concepción, a former cocoa and rubber plantation and ecological research center. Discover over 200 plant species, many with medicinal uses, and enjoy a 30-minute canoe tripspotting turtles, sun grebes, nightjars, and herons. Evening – Rainforest by Night Excursion: Venture into the rainforest after dark for a guided Night Walk, using flashlights to observe nocturnal wildlife and experience the forest’s mysterious sounds and movements. Depart from your hotel in Cusco for the journey to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your day begins early with a 2:00 AM hotel pickup in Cusco. Take the scenic train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of the citadel. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring its impressive temples, terraces, and plazas while learning about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. Take the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to your hotel in Cusco by 9 PM. Overnight: Cusco, Peru
